Starting Wednesday, city taxis will be able to drop and pick up passengers at the KL International Airport in Sepang.

With this extension of services, he is confident passenger waiting time can be reduced from between 45 and 60 minutes to 10 minutes, especially during peak periods, as well as tackle illegal taxis at KLIA.

“We are introducing this new service because we’ve received complaints from the public who have to wait in long queues, especially during festive seasons, public holidays and days when the weather is less agreeable.

“KLIA passengers will get better service with this new system. We hope city taxis will charge less using their meters compared to limousines which use coupons,” he said at a news conference in Sepang today.

According to Syed Hamid, passengers will need to buy a RM2 coupon for the city taxi service and additional charges are calculated using the meter, while airport limousines currently charge based on distance using a coupon system.
