The Coroner’s Court was told today that the body of William Yau Zhen Zhong was found lying on the back, with part of the head underwater, beside a fishing boat at the Kampung Sungai Sireh jetty in Port Klang last January.

A supervisor of a fishermen’s market at Kampung Sungai Sireh Tambahan Dua, Port Klang, Satarudin Kamal, 45, said the body was swollen and in a decomposing state, with both the eyes missing.

“The eyes could have been eaten by the fish,” he said during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Lee Keng Fatt, who is assisting Coroner Mohd Hezri Shaharil in the inquest to determine the cause of six-year-old William's death.

William’s body was found at the jetty on Jan 24, eight days after he was reported missing at Jalan Putra Mahkota, Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, believed after getting out of the family car to look for his parents who went to an electrical shop.

Satarudin said he was having a drink with a few friends at a foodstall near the jetty at about 6.30pm last Jan 24 when he spotted the body floating in the water and then pulled it to the jetty.

To another question by Lee whether anyone touched the body, Satarudin, who is the 14th witness, said no one.

Meanwhile, Lim Say Kim, 27, who is an employee of William’s father, Yau Kok Kang, 33, said he had known his employer’s family for about five years and had been working at Yau’s motorcycle workshop since three years ago.

He said Yau’s relations with his wife, Goh Ying Ying, 26, was very good.

“Since I know Yau, I have never seen him fight with his wife,” he added.

The 13th witness also said he had never had any misunderstanding with Yau and that his employer had no problems with the customers and that the workshop had never been attacked or disturbed by anyone.

The inquest continues on Wednesday.
