The National Union of Banking Employee (Nube) has urged Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak to not re-appoint Segamat MP S Subramaniam as the human resource minister.

Nube sec gen J Solomon In a press release today, Nube general secretary J Solomon ( left ) said Subramaniam was complicit in the establishment of Maybank's in-house union - Maybank Non-Executive Union (Mayneu) - which prevents Nube representation.

Solomon said the Malaysian Trade Union Congress (MTUC) had previously urged Subramaniam to cancel the registration of the in-house union, but to no avail.

“The role of a human resource minister is to use his powers to resolve the issues on unions and its members. All we have seen Subramaniam doing is totally the opposite from what is expected of him.

NONE “All this while Subramanian ( right ) has been saying the matter is in the court, but in actuality, the matter is in the court now because he failed to deregister Mayneu despite having the power to do so.

"In fact, even the court is perplexed on why he has yet to make the decision," said Solomon.

Solomon urged Najib to not "repeat the mistake" of appointing Subramaniam as the human resource minister and undo the "injustices" brought upon Maybank workers.

"We sincerely hope that the new human resource minister will heed the prime minister's advice not to be 'arrogant and cocky' and for once, re-institute the honour and dignity of our working population," he said.
