Muhyiddin Yassin today led ministers and deputy ministers in the swearing-in ceremony before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah at the Istana Negara.

Muhyiddin took the oath of office and allegiance as deputy prime minister and education and education minister I at the ceremony which started at 10.10am.

He later signed the official document of appointment before Chief Justice Arifin Zakaria and the chief secretary to the government Dr Ali Hamsa.

Also present were Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Haminah, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, and former prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

This was followed by six senior ministers, namely G Palanivel (natural resources and environment minister), Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz (tourism and culture minister), Hishammuddin Hussein (defence minister as well as acting transport minister), Mohd Shafie Apdal (rural and regional development minister), Mustapa Mohamed (international trade and industry minister), and Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili (energy, green technology and water minister).

Four batches of ministers followed suit.

They were Douglas Uggah Embas (plantation industries and commodities minister), Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (home minister), Ahmad Shabery Cheek (communication and multimedia minister), S Subramaniam (health minister), Ismail Sabri Yaakob (agriculture and

agro-based industries minister), and Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah (second finance minister).

This was followed by Anifah Aman (foreign minister), four ministers in the Prime Minister's Department, namely Jamil Khir Baharom, Idris Jala, Joseph Kurup, and Joseph Entulu Belaun, and Rohani Abdul Karim (women, family and community development minister).

The other ministers were Fadillah Yusof (works minister), Hasan Malek (domestic trade, cooperative and consumerism minister), Richard Riot Jaem (human resource minister), Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor (federal territories minister), Idris Jusoh (education and higher learning minister II), and Shahidan Kassim (minister in the Prime Minister’s Department).

The last five ministers to be sworn in were Paul Low Seng Kwan (minister in the Prime Minister’s Department), Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar (youth and sports minister), Abdul Rahman Dahlan (urban well-being, housing and local government minister), Nancy Shukri (minister in the Prime Minister’s Department), and Dr Ewon Ebin (science, technology and innovation minister).

Twenty-four deputy ministers were also sworn in and received their letters of appointment.

After the ceremony, cabinet ministers and deputy ministers had a photo session with Tuanku Abdul Halim.
