The Perak state executive council is expected to be sworn in this Saturday at Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar, Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said today.
He added that the list of council members would be announced as soon as it is vetted by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and gets the consent of the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah.
The line up includes two Indian representatives as adviser and special officer to the menteri besar to look into the welfare of the community, he said after a dinner for media personnel at his official residence last night.
Zambry, who is Perak Barisan Nasional (BN) chairperson, further remarked that the number of council members for this term had been increased.
He hoped that MCA would change its stance about not taking up any state post and said several vacancies have been kept for representatives from the party once they resolved the matter.
“It won’t be nice if we fill up all the posts. I hope they can resolve the matter soon,” he said.
Dr Mah Hang Soong is now the only non-Malay BN state assemblyperson from MCA after winning the Chenderiang seat at the recent polls.
The heart specialist was also the former chairperson of the Health, Local Government, Consumer Affairs, Environment, Public Transport and non-Islamic Affairs Committee during the last term.
