Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud wants all Sarawak members of parliament appointed to the federal government to resolve the state's infrastructure development issues which are unique, as compared to those in the peninsula.

Works Minister Fadillah Yusof said this was conveyed by Abdul Taib to those ministers and deputy ministers from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), following a courtesy call on the chief minister, who is also party president.

He said Abdul Taib wanted newly-appointed ministers to find a solution to the aspirations of the state government at the central level as some policies developed at central level might not be suitable for Sarawak.

"Thus, we need to adapt to it," he told reporters after the visit here.

Among those present were Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Douglas Uggah Embas; Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim; Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nancy Shukri; Deputy Home Minister Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar; and, Deputy Rural and Regional Development Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Meanwhile, Rohani said Abdul Taib also asked new ministers and deputy ministers to watch their conduct as federal ministers from Sarawak.

"At the same time, the chief minister also asked me to hold a conference to empower the involvement of women in business, especially in Sarawak.

"Besides that, he asked that we do not forget problems in the city (Kuching) because it may crop up in our focus to rectify issues in rural areas," he added.
