Unperturbed by the barrage of criticism from the opposition, Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he is ready to face DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang and party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng in the coming Parliament sitting.

penang save democracy rally 180513 lim kit siang He was responding to Kit Siang's ( right ) earlier proposal to move a motion during the new Parliament sitting in mid-June to censure him over his statement in Utusan Malaysia , urging those who are not happy with the current electoral system to " migrate elsewhere ".

"I'm ready to face the motion of censure from Guan Eng. (But) why is he feeling spicy? Did he eat the chili?

"I'm used to facing him, what is there to fear?" he told Utusan Malaysia yesterday.

He reiterated that Guan Eng should read his statement published last Thursday carefully and not to twist it.

"Read properly. If you don't understand the Malay language, it's better (for you) to (go) back to school again," he was quoted as saying by the Umno-owned Malay daily.

In the editorial piece published in Utusan Malaysia , Zahid lashed at what he described as "illegal gatherings" organised by the opposition by way of the 'Black 505' events nationwide following Pakatan Rakyat's losses in 13th general election.

NONE The illegal gatherings, Zahid ( left ) said, were to hide the fact of Pakatan's failure to win over Putrajaya. However, the coalition did not dispute the results in Penang, Selangor and Kelantan.

He added that Malaysia does not adopt a system that recognises the popular vote as the country practised the Westminster system of 'first past the post', as did several other Commonwealth countries.

"If this group (the opposition) wants to use the other system of single transferable votes as used in the republics, they should migrate to those countries to practise this kind of political belief," Zahid stressed.
