Adnan also said that he had confidence in the ability of the new faces in the state executive council, such as Abu Bakar, Shahaniza, Syed Ibrahim, Mohd Johari and Norol Azali.
The MCA was not represented in the state executive council, in keeping with the party’s decision not to take up appointments in the government if it fared worse in the 13th general election compared to the 12th.
The party won two of the eight state seats in contested in Pahang, with Lau Lee winning the Damak seat and Fong Koong Fuee, the Cheka seat.
Asked about the increase in the number of opposition members in the state legislative assembly, Adnan said the Barisan Nasional (BN) state government was undeterred by that.
“We have faced this situation previously. Of more importance is discharging our duties well for the benefit of the people,” he said.
