Four men pleaded not guilty in the magistrate’s court in Johor Baru today, on charges of hindering a police personnel and smashing the window of a car owned by a taxi driver during the 13th general election.

Ng Yong Lin, 33, Sow Tian Min, 27, Kok You Chai, 45, and S Rajandran, 44, were charged with hindering Corporal Tenku Mohd Firdaus Tenku Ibrahim from carrying out his duty at Jalan Jelawat Batu 10, Kampung Poh Chee Ling in Skudai in Johor Baru at 9.15pm on May 5.

They were charged under Section 186 of the Penal Code which was read together with Section 34, and carries a jail sentence of up to two years or fine of RM10,000, or both, upon conviction.

On the second charge, the men had allegedly committed mischief by breaking the rear and side windows of a Proton Perdana V6 belonging to Abdul Kadir Bahsar at the same place, date and time.

The offence was committed under Section 427 of the Penal Code and read together with Section 34, which carries a jail term of up to two years or fine, or both, upon conviction.

Magistrate Mohd Azlan Shah Mohd Allias fixed bail at RM6,000 per person for both charges and set June 6 for re-mention of case.
