The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Penang has received seven reports on money politics after the 13th general election (GE13), said Penang state MACC director Samarajoo Manikam.

He said MACC had also opened investigation papers on the reports received and investigations were still going on.

“During the GE13 campaigning period, we had also received information but MACC only carried out monitoring, but after GE13, all reports received especially those involving money politics were investigated,” he told reporters in George Town.

Earlier, Samarajoo had presented a paper titled ‘Corruption affecting national economy and the role of the private sector and government linked companies (GLC) in improving corruption perception index’ at a lunch and dialogue with non-governmental organisations and GLC today.

He, however, declined to comment further on the reports as they were still under investigation.
