Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) will send a letter to Pakatan Rakyat components PAS and PKR to express its unhappiness with the two which had contested in the Kota Damansara and Semenyih state seats, resulting in three-way contests which led to losses in the two seats.

Its secretary-general S Arutchelvan was quoted in Sinar Harian as saying that the party’s central committee will send the letter to PAS and PKR soon in order to find a solution to the duplication of contests in the seats.

“PSM is dejected over the loss emanating from a three-way contest with PAS and PKR in Kota Damansara and Semenyih. If they had given way, PSM would have won,” he said.

PSM has conducted a post-mortem within the national committee and discussed the cooperation with Pakatan. We will discuss this further at the PSM congress on June 28 and 30,” he said.

NONE “The PSM central committee will also send a letter to PAS expressing our unhappiness with what happened in Kota Damansara,” said Arutchelvan.

He said the cooperation between PSM and PKR was debated in the PSM congress last year, and this may be discussed further following the recent 13th general election.

Arutchelvan said the reply to the letters from both PAS and PKR would be used to determine the status of cooperation between PSM and Pakatan, which would be decided in the coming party congress.

The recent election saw both PAS and PSM candidates losing in Kota Damansara, where PSM president Nasir Hashim contested, while in Semenyih, Arutchelvan lost along with the PKR candidate.

Both seats were won by BN.
