Penang Suaram coordinator Sean Ho has lodged a police report against the Facebook page of Persatuan Mukabuku Pulau Pinang (PMPP) for allegedly defaming him by calling him a racist.

NONE Ho ( right ) claimed the group, comprising Umno supporters, accused him of uttering racist statements by labelling Malays as "gangsters" and " bangsat (scoundrels)".

He said he also found a photo of him on the Facebook page, accompanied by a message to the public, urging them to "find him and teach him (a lesson)".

"This malicious act attempts to lower my integrity as a social activist.

“The message contains threats against me. I feel that the safety of my family, friends and me are threatened,”  Ho said after lodging the report at the Sungai Nibong police station.

By lodging the report, he expressed hoped that the police would investigate the matter seriously, as he felt "very scared and worried".

"The police must probe the group that has clearly incited others (through its Facebook page) to threaten my safety and security.

"It is also hoped that the police can guarantee my safety and those who are close to me," Ho said.

'Rude boy, no manners'

In the group’s Facebook page, a photo of Ho has been posted with words describing him as a USM student and a " budak biadap kurang ajar (rude boy with no manners)", and calls on others to find him and “teach him a lesson”.

Under the photo is a paragraph datelining the event as Padang Kota, May 23, where "a group of Chinese boys who are supposedly supporters of Adam Adli turned violent, provocative and called Malays gangsters and bangsat ".

PMPP members frequent the Speakers Square at the Penang Esplanade to express their criticism of the DAP and state government led by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

NONE Last Monday, the group kicked up a fuss at a peaceful candlelight vigil at the Esplanade  in support of student activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim, which was organised by human rights group Suaram and attended by about 100 people.

Chaos erupted when several men on motorbikes,wearing helmets, chased and tried to ram into Ho, with one bike hitting him on the legs as he was leaving the venue.

A scuffle then broke out between the groups and it left Oriental Daily reporter Ooi Choon Nam, who was on duty at the scene, with a broken pair of spectacles and a minor injury on his right hand.
