Selangor PAS deputy commissioner Khalid Abdul Samad has denied blaming the Selangor palace for causing the delay in the announcement of the state executive council (exco) list.

NONE "I've been advised by the palace that I had blamed it for the delay," he said.

"However, the statement by the sultan's private secretary Mohamad Munir Bani is in fact incorrect."

He said his blog posting, dated May 20 only explained the process concerning the list, but there was no mention of 'kelewatan' (delay).

Pakatan Rakyat, Khalid said, would have had all the time it needed to decide on its exco list as the state constitution does not stipulate any time frame for this.

Therefore, the issue of a delay does not arise.

"Pakatan does not see this as a delay," he told a press conference today.

'Headline was incorrect'

The Shah Alam MP blamed Malaysiakini 's Bahasa Malaysia edition for sensationalising the issue, saying the headline had led to the “incorrect” statement by the sultan's secretary.

Khalid urged Munir to read his blog posting instead.

Khalid, however, noted that Malaysiakini had reported correctly on his article.

Given views expressed by the people and Umno that made it seem there was a quarrel within Pakatan over the exco posts,  he said he felt compelled to explain the process.

The component parties discussed the new administration team in a peaceful manner and  did not quarrel over the exco posts, he said.

Asked if he would seek an audience with the sultan to provide clarification, he replied "No" since the palace has not contacted him.
