Billionaire Vincent Tan has not ruled out the possibility of listing Cardiff City Football Club and 7-Eleven to raise funds.

Confirming this, he said, the decision would only be made in the next few months.

“We will consider. We are looking at several options to raise money to pay the banks. I have invested so much, so now I need to raise some money. Listing is one of the options. Nothing firm or definite yet,” he told reporters at the signing of Friendster Sdn Bhd and Kakao Corporation in Kuala Lumpur today.

Tan was commenting on recent newsreports on his plans to list Cardiff City and 7-Eleven.

Pressed further, he said the possible listing would probably happen this year.

Tan said apart from repayment of debts, he said, part of the funds raised would also be used to finance his charity works including providing free English education to rural areas that do not have access to proper English education.

He is planning to set up 100 centres from the current seven centres around Pulau Redang, Batu Pahat, Pahang and Sabah.

The listing of Cardiff City will be the second Premier League team after Manchester United’s listing on the New York Stock Exchange.

Tan, who owns 36.1 percent of the club, has announced his retirement from his flagship company, Berjaya Group, in February last year to focus on charitable and philanthrophy works.
