The Sessions Court in Kota Kinabalu today extended the bail of a restaurant mananger accused of raping and later marrying his underaged victim.

Judge Ummu Khatom Abd Samad said the bail was extended until the disposal of the case.

Senior federal counsel Jamil Ariffin said the accused was released on an RM8,000 bail which expired today.

Ummu Khatom said trial for the case would proceed on July 1-4 and fixed June 20 for case management.

Riduan Masmud, 40, was charged on Feb 28 with raping the girl, who was 12 years and six months old, inside a car parked by the roadside in Inanam near Kota Kinabalu at 10am on Feb 18.

On May 21, the court was told that Riduan had married the girl.

Loretto J Padua represented the accused, who was present with his first wife, while the victim was not present.

Lawyer Mariati Robert held a watching brief for the Sabah Law Association.
