Former Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Annuar Musa today suggested that FAM's affiliates push for an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) of the football governing body to resolve all problems relating to its existing rules and regulations.

Annuar through his Facebook account said important issues that had become contentious today could be brought the EGM in a structured manner and resolved collectively.

"Only this way can the affiliates ensure that FAM implements the resolutions adopted at the EGM, more so FAM's congress will be held soon," he said.

Annuar added that the "ball was at the affiliates' feet" to "right the wrongs" in FAM.

NONE FAM has come under flak lately including from newly-appointed Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin who disputed FAM's decision to award host rights to the FA of Pahang for the postponed FA Cup semifinal second-leg match between Pahang and Johor Darul Takzim.

It had to be held at the neutral venue of the National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday because it could not be played at the Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan on May 28 because of crowd trouble.

Khairy held the view that the ticket allocation for Pahang as hosts (at the National Stadium) was more akin to a reward than a punishment over FA of Pahang's failure to provide adequate security at the Darul Makmur Stadium, despite the affiliate being fined RM100,000 by FAM over the debacle.

Yesterday, the FA of Johor (JFA) president Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, in a statement issued in his capacity as the tunku makhota of Johor, had lashed out at FAM for failing to bring much needed change for the development of football in the country.

Tunku Ismail, who has been suspended as JFA president for making public statements on FAM in contravention of FAM's policies, said the situation would remain the same in the future if no radical action was taken.

Commenting on TMJ's statement yesterday, Annuar said he had the right to express his views and in fact more affiliates should be brave enough to voice out on whatever they were dissatisfied about.

Meanwhile, FAM secretary-general Azzuddin Ahmad when contacted for comment, said: "Sorry, I do not want to make any comments."
