Police have detained two men for breaking into and stealing money and goods from PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution's house at Kampung Air Hijau in Machang, Kelantan, last Thursday.

The suspects, aged 23 and 27, were arrested at their respective homes in Kampung Gosong, also in Kelantan, about 1am yesterday and have been remanded until Tuesday, Bernama reported.

Machang police told reporters that the items found at the houses of the two detained included laptops, watches, mobile phones, bank cards and foreign currency notes.

Both the men remanded have prior criminal records, with one of them having been released from prison last December. A third suspect is still at large.

Meanwhile Sinar Harian reported that the items stolen from the former Machang MP's home were valued at RM25,350.

It reported that the pair remanded, a rubber tapper and an unemployed man, are local residents.

Police said a report on the burglary, which took place about 6.30pm last Thursday, was lodged by Saifuddin's sister-in-law on his behalf.
