Zambry explains speaker issue, chides Palanivel
Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir today stated that he had never issued any statement on the appointment of speaker for the Perak state legislative assembly.
Menteri Besar Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir today stated that he had never issued any statement on the appointment of speaker for the Perak state legislative assembly.
MIC president G Palanivel recently issued a statement which appeared threatening Zambry with the party’s rejection of any post in the state government including special officer and local councillor if MIC was not given the speaker post.
Zambry said as a leader, Palanivel should not be hasty in making such an assumption over the matter.
“It is an irresponsible statement, made without knowing the actual situation,” he added.
Zamby said he had never made a statement on who would be the speaker this time as he could not announce it yet.
“Why did he (Palanivel) make that ridiculous statement? If I have stated that we would nominate someone from Umno, MCA or Gerakan (to be speaker), he can voice it out... but I did not make such a statement.”
Zambry said this after the Perak Public Works Department’s excellent service awards presentation and launching of the Pavement Management Programme for state roads in Ipoh today.
He said the appointment of speaker was not a done matter yet and the individual appointed to the post would be announced when the state assembly sits for the new session.
