Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein today described the failure of the opposition leaders to attend a parliamentary briefing session yesterday, apparently to boycott the results of the 13th general election, as irresponsible.

NONE He said the action clearly showed that the opposition did not respect the existing parliamentary process.

"It was irresponsible, only one representative from the opposition parties was present... that not only shows their disrespect towards the speaker and parliamentary process, but also the rakyat who have given them the mandate," he told reporters after visiting the Royal Malaysian Air Force base (RMAF) in Subang Jaya today.

Hishammuddin urged all leaders, regardless from the government or the opposition, to stop playing politics and focus on security and the country's administrative process.

"Enough is enough for us to keep on politicking... they (opposition) still want to engage in politics without thinking of the more important issues such as running the country and country's security," he said.

He said of the 89 opposition leaders, only Er Teck Hwa , the DAP member of parliament for Bakri, Johor, attended the briefing session.
