An express bus skidded and overturned along the Raub-Bentong road near Raub early today, killing a three-year-old boy and badly injuring six other people, police said.

The bus, carrying 19 passengers, was headed from Kota Baru to Kuala Lumpur when the accident took place at Km364 of the road at 4.30am, said Raub District Police chief Supt Wan Samsuddin Wan Osman.

He identified the dead boy as Muhammad Busam Suhaiming, and said he died at the Raub Hospital.

“Among the six badly injured was the 53-year-old co-driver,” he said when contacted by Bernama .

Six other people were slightly injured in the accident when the bus, driven then by a 40-year-old driver, overturned onto the oncoming lane of the road, he said.

Three of the badly injured people were sent to the Temerloh Hospital and three others to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital, said Wan Samsuddin.

Those with slight injuries were treated as outpatients at the Raub Hospital, he added.

“The police tested the drivers' urine and blood,” he said.
