PAS vice-president Husam Musa was released on police bail today, two days after being detained in connection with a sedition investigation against him.

According to his lawyer Hisham Fauzi, Husam was released on a RM3,000 police bail, on one surety.

However, Hisham said, it remained unclear whether the PAS leader would be charged but added if that were to happen, it would likely be within a month.

"Whether the investigation will continue or not, we are fine about it and Husam is prepared to give more statements," the lawyer added when contacted by Malaysiakini .

Husam was arrested at 4pm last Saturday in Kampung Pandan, Ampang, while taking part in Kuala Lumpur's 'Black 505' rally to protest against alleged electoral fraud.

He was detained under the Sedition Act 1948 for his statement that those who died in the rally would be martyrs.

Harahkahdaily had quoted Husam as saying: "If they sacrifice themselves, or some of us do, God willing, they will be s yahid fi sabillah (martyrs)."
