Permatang Pauh Umno division vice-chief, Abdul Rahim Man passed away from  from liver infection at home in Kampung Junjung Tasek, Simpang Ampat, near Bukit Mertajam.

The division's Youth head Mohd Zaidi Mohd Said said Abdul Rahim, 61, who was in critical condition at KPJ Hospital in Bandar Perda, in Bukit Mertajam, died at about 7.10pm.

"He was warded at the hospital after suffering from infection of the liver with high fever and he lost consciousness since yesterday.

"I was informed by his family members that Abdul Rahim was brought home this evening after doctors found him to be in a grave condition," he said when contacted by Bernama today.

He said Abdul Rahim would be buried at the Kampung Junjung Muslim cemetery tomorrow morning.

In the 13th general election, Abdul Rahim was appointed BN coordinator for the Permatang Pasir state constituency.

He leaves a wife, Norhazlina Abdullah, and five children.
