YOURSAY 'He's a rare judge, giving verdict according to the letter of the law and not according to instructions from the higher-up.'

VT Singham retires after illustrious judicial career

your say Justice Seeker: Yang Arif Hakim VT Singham is a man of impeccable credentials. People like him will never be appreciated by the government. They will be put in cold storage until they retire.

They will instead promote scandalous and half-past-six judges to sit in the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.

This is to ensure the corrupt regime can continue ruling the country despite obtaining only 47 percent of the popular vote.

Lim Chong Leong: Why is it that this judge never made it to the Court of Appeal or Federal Court? Because he is strict and just. Instead we have that racist (former appellate court judge Mohd Noor Abdullah).

This is the Umno way. Many lawyers feared justice Singham, but only because they did not do their homework.

I always found him very firm but fair. He was a no-nonsense judge and that only made it a pleasure and an honour to appear before him. He will be deeply missed by the Bar. Have a good retirement, sir.

Datos: The high-profile cases in which justice VT Singham made his decisions were the same as any of his other decisions made by him throughout his carrier as a High Court judge.

He is 'Lady justice' - the legal symbol of justice. Thank you and good luck to you, sir, in your retirement.

Bamboo: He's a rare judge, giving verdict according to the letter of the law and not according to instructions from the higher-up. Happy retirement, justice.

Anonymous_ABG: It's sad to see justice Singham leave. He handed down judgments without fear and in accordance with the principles of natural justice.

Because of his honesty he was not promoted; this clearly shows even the judiciary is blindly racist and a non-believer of meritocracy. He is one of the best judges the country will have. May God bless VT Singham.

Aries46: Kudos to justice VT Singham for his laudable decisions that gave hope to Malaysians who are starved of judges who are courageous, guided by their conscience and sense of fair play in interpreting the laws.

His final judgment on the A Kugan murder case was a hallmark of his honour's sense of justice and integrity in the face of blatant abuse of power by the powers-that-be.

Mohican: Yang Arif Hakim VT Singham, even if you are in the minority of one, the truth is the truth and the truth will set you free.

You are a judge of great eminence and you have the trust of the people. At the end of your life, you can face the Almighty and bravely say that you have upheld justice to the satisfaction of your oath of office.

Your parents, dead they may be, will be consoled by God that they have brought you up in the spirit of Godliness and absolute truth.

You have lived up to the good upbringing of your parents, the school that nurtured you, and the principles that guided you. We salute you immensely.

1Mockery: He dared to remark that Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) must be set up by the government knowing that he no longer can be penalised by the Umno government. I think if he was not retiring, he too would not say that.

Anonymous$&@?: Forced to retire due to the correct judgment.

Wira: No one can easily force a judge to resign, especially if he is an upright judge. Our federal constitution protects him or her.

A judge cannot be sacked by the executive. He/she has to be impeached by a special tribunal set up to try him/her. His/her remuneration is also guaranteed by the constitution.

Versey: Indeed, all right-minded Malaysians shall be wishing justice Singham well. May God bless this fair and good judge, who has been faithful in his duty to uphold justice without fear or favour.

I hope it is not too much to wish that he will continue serving this nation where reformation is urgently and much needed for the betterment of the country and the people. Thank you, justice Singham.

Appum: I have personally heard of lawyers singing praises of this honourable judge even before his latest Kugan case.

He is a no-nonsense judge, so we are going to miss him. Take a much-deserved rest, sir, and after that don't be off the radar completely. Malaysia still needs you.

LogicalMalaysian: A simple man even in those days when we use to have teh tarik , I am very, very proud of you who have carried the torch of truth in the judiciary.

Your legacy will live even beyond you. When the common man reads/hears your judgment, it is seen as a bright spark in a dark tunnel.

There are many whom you have not seen or known who will bless you.
