Thunderstorms are expected to continue until this evening in coastal areas of Penang, Perak, Selangor, Sarawak (Rejang, Mukah and Bintulu), Phuket and Reef North.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department’s website, this situation could cause strong winds of 50kph and choppy seas with waves of up to 3.5 metres high, posing a danger to small boats.

Meanwhile, a tropical storm is reported about 1,706km north-west of Kudat, Sabah, with an estimated speed of 20kph.

However, no significant effect has been reported so far.
