Penang MIC Youth head Dhinagaran Jayabalan apologised in the High Court today for making false allegations of corruption and abuse of power against DAP Seri Delima assemblyperson RSN Rayer and his assistant Savalingam Shanmugam.

NONE Dhinagaran ( left ) declared before judicial commissioner Nurmala Salim that after having seen the plaintiff's explanation, clarification and stand on the matter, with which he was satisfied and accepts, he realised that there was not the "slightest foundation" for any of the said allegations.

"I am here to apologise to the plaintiff for having made them and to withdraw unreservedly all imputations upon the plaintiff," he added.

He also pledged not to repeat the allegations in future.

Dhinagaran was ticked off twice, first by Rayer and later by Nurmala, who told him he could not be heard as his statement was barely audible.

He apologised for his statements on Rayer and Savalingam that he posted on two online portals, Kuala Lumpur Pos and Free Malaysia Today, on March 8 and 11, 2013, respectively.

On March 18, Dhinagaran lodged a complaint against Rayer and Savalingam with the MACC over the Seri Delima assemblyman's gift of a microwave oven to a district office.

NONE He also accused Rayer ( right ) of "wielding his political influence" to direct the assistant treasurer of the Penang Hindu Endowment Board to retract a report of theft against an employee.

Dhinagaran further alleged that Savalingam - Rayer's uncle - was involved in allocating funds to a relative.

Rayer and Savalingam have both vehemently denied Dhinagaran's allegations and both filed defamation suits against him on March 20.

When met after the session, Rayer told journalists that he and his assistant felt "vindicated'.

"This shows that there was no truth in all the allegations," he added, before leaving to attend the Penang state assembly sitting.
