RM12bil more sought to cover gov't spending in 2012

PARLIAMENT The Education and Health Ministries have respectively sought RM3.3 billion and RM 1.7 billion in additional allocations to cover their expenditure in 2012.
These were the largest sums listed in the RM12.17 billion Supplementary Supply Bill, which was tabled this morning for first reading in the Dewan Rakyat.
Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan tabled the Bill, the second to date.
Other requests were from the Home Ministry (RM463 million), the Prime Minister's Department (RM366 million) and the Election Commission (RM60 million).
Th government had tabled a RM146 billion budget in 2012 and had initially asked for an extra RM13.7 in the first Supplementary Supply Bill.
Including liability expenses, this brings the government's total spending and liability for 2012 to RM209.5 billion.
