The Home Ministry confiscated 126 copies of tabloids published by political parties in an operation on four premises in Kuantan today.
Pahang Home Ministry Publication Control and Al-Quran Text Division director Azilah Madulan said the raids were conducted under the Printing Presses and Publications Act (Amendment) 2012.
"From this number, 100 were copies of Suara Keadilan and 26 others were of Harakah .
"Inspection and the confiscation was done by seven personnel from 10am today at a kiosk in Taman Tas, Batu 3 Jalan Gambang, Jalan Besar and ended at a sundry shop in Indera Mahkota 2 in Kuantan," Azilah said when contacted by Bernama .
She said most traders were not aware that selling these tabloids to the public was an offence as there was no permit or approval from the ministry.
"However, we thank the traders for cooperating with us so that the operation can run smoothly. We've advised those involved not to sell any publications such as tabloids that do not have approval and permit from the Home Ministry," she added.
In May, Harakah ’s online news site, HarakahDaily , reported that copies of the PAS’ party organ were seized in Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Kedah and in Perak.
