Pakatan questions top posts for ex-ministers
Why have former cabinet ministers been given top posts in government-linked companies and institutions?
Why have former cabinet ministers been given top posts in government-linked companies and institutions?
Raising this today, Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim questioned in particular the posts assigned to former tourism minister Ng Yen Yen and former information minister Rais Yatim.
Ng has been made the chairperson of the Malaysia Tourism Board, while Rais is now president of Universiti Islam Antarabangsa.
"The prime minister needs to explain how many more ministers have been appointed (to posts like these)," Anwar told a press conference after the Pakatan leadership council meeting in Parliament House today.
He said there have been too many of such appointments since the 13th general election was concluded on May 5.
"This is an act of siding Umno and BN cronies that burdens the rakyat," he said.
Anwar also demanded to know how much is being spent on such appointments, as well as the financial burden this has placed on the government.
