'Idris arrogant for telling PAS not to contest'
PAS' election director for the Kuala Besut by-election, Husam Musa, has called Education Minister II Idris Jusoh "arrogant" for his call to PAS yesterday not to contest.
PAS election director for the Kuala Besut by-election, Husam Musa, has called Education Minister II Idris Jusoh "arrogant" for his call to PAS yesterday not to contest.
"That is a very arrogant statement," Husam said during a press conference today.
He said PAS stands a chance of winning the state seat, despite Idris' claim that BN's majority there would even increase in this by-election.
"Even if BN's majority was big, we believe the people will evaluate the by-election on the context of Terengganu today," Husam (left) said.
"If PAS wins the seat, it will bring a holistic benefit to the people there," he added.
Husam, who contested the Putrajaya parliamentary seat in the recent general election and lost, said the people of Besut were among the poorest in Terengganu.
"Despite being a oil-producing state, the people in Besut are still among the poorest," he said.
Husam, who is also a PAS vice-president, was earlier confirmed by Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim as the election director for the Kuala Besut by-election.
Should PAS win this state seat in the first by-election since the 13th general election, it will bring Pakatan's state assembly seat tally to an even 16 with the BN.
The seat became vacant following the death of the BN assemblyperson, Dr A Rahman Mokhtar, last week.
