Kemelah assemblyperson Ayub Rahmat today took his oath as a member of the state executive council (exco) before the Johor Sultan, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, at Istana Pasir Pelangi in Johor Baru.

Menteri Besar Mohamed Khaled Nordin said Ayub’s appointment brought to 10 the number of Johor state exco members.

Ayub is given the health and environment portfolio, he told reporters after accompanying the sultan on a visit to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru today.

He said the appointment of the state exco was no longer based on a quota system.

“The appointment of Datuk Tee Siew Kiong (MCA-Pulai Sebatang) as an exco member was made by the Johor sultan because the ruler wants a Chinese representative,” he added.
