PKR: Gov't may lose RM163mil over NFC soft loan

What happened to the rest of the money amounting to RM163 million? How much went into humongous salaries and allowances for the directors through the years?

Anonymous #21828131: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should get to the bottom of things and diligently scrutinise every cent that was abused.

As a matter of opinion, it could have well ended up in several pockets along the line or due to absolute lack of business acumen, especially in ‘cow fattening'.

With such lax authorisation to release the monies, on paper it shows a loss but the real benefactors are out there living the high life and getting away scot-free.

The organisations responsible should investigate and put an end to such a shameful episode to prevent future losses of genuine taxpayers' monies.

If not for PKR's Rafizi Ramli's revelation, it would have been RM500 million with the additional amount given out through a ‘supplementary' budget.

Abuse, corrupt practices and mismanagement has been so prevalent in the Umno-BN administration, to the extent that we don't know which is more frightening; that we are getting used to it as the norm, or the expectation that no action or conviction will be taken against the perpetrators.

Pemerhati: Now Umno Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil and her family must be feeling a bit upset as to why people are picking on the mere RM200 million or so the family stole while not saying anything much about the tens of billions of the people's money stolen by people like Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Heavywater: Goodness, for RM163 million, I wouldn't mind going to jail for a few years but yet I don't think these guys would need to.

You know what? If the government is truly interested to recover all the money, just imprison all the directors and shareholders. I am sure they would pay up after some time of suffering in jail.

Isa: Only lawbreakers fear Sedition Act

Onyourtoes: Jempol MP Isa Samad, you are wrong - those who break the law and have good protection from prosecution have no fear of the law. This is exactly the situation now.

Those who tried to defend themselves after being accused of many things will be slapped with seditious charges. Welcome to the handicapped nation.

LittleGiant: Who are the lawbreakers, Isa? Only the opposition politicians and their supporters? Can you dare tell the whole world that all BN politicians are 100 percent law abiding citizens?

What about all the highly sensitive statements - and some that can even be considered seditious - made by BN politicians and their supporters in the run up to GE13 and even post-GE13?

Are you saying that they did not break any law? What is preventing the government from taking the necessary action against these lawbreakers?

What is the point of having some outdated, dubious and draconian laws when the government does not have the courage or the conviction to apply them in a fair manner against all offenders but wants to freely use them only against the opposition politicians, their supporters and dissenters?

Odin: One gathers that Isa Samad isn't exactly a blemish-free politician for his opinion to be respected. Quite apart from being tainted, he is obviously either a liar or thicker than two short planks.

However, as we are nice people, we shall think better of him and assume that the latter is the case; therefore, he need to be educated on the proper application of laws, and that is, laws must apply to all.

But Umno Baru has applied laws such as the Sedition Act selectively. One example, Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali has not been dealt with, although he has contravened the Act.

Mohican: Isa, use your thick head. The public is not afraid of the Sedition Act. The public fears most those who abuse the Act to charge people for sedition, even over an opinion.

I would agree to the rationale but it just that in Malaysia under BN, the unwritten rules is that "guilty until proven innocent" and double standard of the authorities in carrying out their duties.

Supercession: Isa, no need to reveal yourself as a ‘loyar burok'. We all know Umno loves the Sedition Act because it can be used against anyone who threatens Umno's illegitimate hold on power.

FairGame: Of course, Isa is not worried about the Sedition Act. Come to think of it, he shouldn't be afraid of any law for the matter.

He was caught for money politics (I wonder how did he accumulate so much money), and only got a slap on the wrist.

CiViC: Everyone else has valid reasons to be afraid, not because they are lawbreakers, but rather because there's absolutely no trust and confidence in enforcement.

The Mohican: No, it is the double standard persecution of the opposition, those who are critical of the regime and discriminatory charging of activists for minor offences, while letting off of pro-regime and pro-Umno individuals and agencies who have committed worst offences, that worry the rakyat.
