A PKR MP today called on the attorney-general (AG) to start taking serious action over nearly 1,500 police reports that have been lodged nationwide regarding the indelible ink debacle during the May 5 polls.

NONE Bukit Katil MP Shamsul Iskandar Akin ( left ) said that in a parliamentary answer given to him, Home Ministry said that 1,469 police reports have been lodged over the indelible ink as of June 3, this year.

However, the answer did not state what further action the police is taking to investigate the reports.

"The AG should act on this matter. This is a huge volume of reports," he said during a press conference in Parliament lobby today.

Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim had called on the public to make widespread police reports on the indelible ink shortly after the polls.

This was due to many complaints by the public and the opposition that the ink did not last beyond a few hours during election day, defeating its purpose to last for at least a week in order to prevent double-voting.
