The royal commission of inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah will resume its proceedings in two sessions from July 15 to 19, and July 22 to 25.  

RCI secretary Saripuddin Kasim said the proceedings would be resumed at the Federal Court in Kota Kinabalu.    

So far 171 witnesses have testified before the commission during eight sessions since January, he said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu today.

In March, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong had consented to extend the term of the commission for six months, from March 21 to Sept 20.

The commission is headed by former Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, Steve Shim Lip Kiong. The panel members comprise former Universiti Malaysia Sabah vice-chancellor Professor Dr Kamaruzzaman Ampon; former Kuala Lumpur police chief Henry Chin Poy Wu; former Sabah state secretary KY Mustapha and former Sabah deputy chief minister Herman J Luping, who is also former Sabah attorney-general.
