Two non-governmental organisations filed a police report today over a provocative Facebook post allegedly made by two former National University of Singapore students which stirred racial sensitivities of Muslims in the country.

Kulaijaya Usahanita chairperson Mazanah Mohammad Zain and Tanjung Puteri Malaysian Diabetes Association chairperson made the report at the Tampoi police station, Johor Baru, at about 1pm today.

Speaking to reporters after lodging the report, Mazanah, 56, described the act as mocking Islam and should not be done out of respect for Malaysia as a multi-racial country.

"I want the authorities to take action on them," she said.

Newspapers reported today that the duo, who are a couple, sparked controversy when they posted a photo deemed offensive to Muslims on their Facebook site.

According to the reports, bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee, previously known for showing half-naked photographs of themselves, have posted a ‘Selamat Berbuka Puasa' greeting with a picture depicting them eating ‘bak kut teh'.
