The government has yet to discuss bonus for civil servants in view of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri this year, said chief secretary to the government Dr Ali Hamsa.

However, the government had announced a double salary increment for this year to civil servants, he said.

“The double salary increment itself can be considered a bonus. However, since the government normally pays bonus at the end of the year depending on the output. It is too early to discuss,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.

Ali said this year alone the government had allocated RM2 billion for the salary increment and salary restructure.

“This month, six salary schemes will see adjustments made and 81 more schemes in November,” he said when asked to comment on the half-month bonus appeal by Cuepacs, in view of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festival.

Ali had earlier opened a seminar called ‘Enhancing Regulatory Quality’ and launched the ‘National Policy On The Development And Implementation Of Relations and Regulatory Impact Statement’ portal.
