KUALA BESUT Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Said today revealed that the state had once awarded a 150 acre plot of land to a state assemblyperson when PAS was in power.

He said this in reply to questions on PAS’ revealation that the state government had awarded plots of beachside land to three elected representatives and one former MP.

Speaking to reporters after chairing the state cabinet meeting, Ahmad said the land was given to a company that was owned by the state assemblyperson and his wife, whom he did not name.

"It is the same. In our case, the elected representative's name was used. (In PAS' case), it was given to a company. Who owns the company?" he asked.

The company was charged with operating a lime farm and Ahmad claimed that the land was given as a form of reward to that PAS member.

PAS took reign of Terengganu in 1999 after winning by a landslide. Following this, then PAS deputy president Abdul Hadi Awang became state menteri besar.

However, PAS was routed in Terengganu in the 2004 general election and the party was two seats shy of forming the state government during the 13th general election.

The four plots of land in question, measuring one hectare each, was awarded in between 2004 and 2013 and is located in Besut.
