The Attorney-General's (AG) Chambers' inaction against right-wing individuals who have made seditious comments is leading to more instances racist and extremist remarks, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng.

He was referring to Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali who had once called for the burning of Malay bibles that used the word ‘Allah’, as well as Perkasa vice president Zulkifli Noordin who had purportedly insulted Hindu deities.

dap special meeting 110313 lim guan eng He added that the AG’s Chambers' inaction has also led to more remarks like that of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Abdul Rahman Dahman, who justified the burning of bibles this week saying it was because of the “misprint” of the word ‘Allah’.

Lim who is also Penang chief minister said while he supported the charging of sex bloggers Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee for insulting Islam, he queried the continuous inaction against the Perkasa duo.

"Why can action be taken against the 'Alvivi' couple ( below ) within a week after a police report was lodged, but yet no action taken against Ibrahim Ali even though there were countless police reports lodged six months ago?

"There is no doubt that BN practices selective prosecution by only punishing anti-Muslim statements but not anti non-Muslim statements,” he said in a statement today.

NONE He was responding to Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar who yesterday said that his men had investigated the Perkasa duo but was told to stop, blaming "lack of evidence" and that they had not received any response from the AG’s Chambers.

"These revelations by the inspector-general of police of ‘no further action’ has emboldened more Umno ministers to come out of the closet to openly support the racist and extremist policies of Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa," said Lim.

Tan and Lee were on Friday charged for among others, sedition and posting pornographic content on the internet, and was denied bail.

The couple had uploaded a photograph on Facebook inviting people to buka puasa (break fast) with bak kut the sporting a halal sign on the Ramadhan greeting.
