Penang MACC nabs caterer over false claims to FRU
A food caterer, who allegedly made false claims amounting to RM115,204.00, to the Penang Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) has been nabbed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The 59-year-old man from Penang was arrested at 10.30am today, and is expected to be charged in court next week.
He will be charged under Section 18 A of the 2009 MACC Act with making false claims, and if convicted, faces a jail term not exceeding 20 year or a fine RM10,000 or not less than five times the value or sum of the false claims, whichever is higher.
Last year, the suspect allegedly issued a false claim amounting to RM115,204.00 to Unit 3 of the Penang FRU for food provisions for Troops A, B and C, to be taken during their training.
However, it is learnt that the food was never provided to the police personnel.
Penang MACC director Samarajoo Manikam ( right ) confirmed the arrest.
“We have taken his statement and he is out on bail. He is expected to be charged in court next week,” he told Malaysiakini .
