The Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Ministry will set up an advisory body for non-Islamic houses of worship (RIBI) to study the notices of vacancy and determine areas for the construction of houses of worship.

Its Deputy Minister J Loga Balan said the advisory body would also investigate action to vacate the sites by the authorities, by taking into account the religious sensitivity of the multiracial community.

"Currently, the advisory body is being represented by religious representatives from non-governmental organisations and membership is not yet open to politicians," he said when replying to a question from Senator Chiew Lian Keng during question time at the Dewan Negara sitting today.

Chiew wanted to know about houses of worship that had been alloted land by the Land and Mines Department before the enforcement team took action to vacate the site.
