Four election petitions filed in Selangor - one by the BN and the rest by Pakatan Rakyat parties - were struck off today by an election court.

Justice Zaleha Yusof ruled that some of the petitions did not provide proper particulars.

The petitioners had filed their applications based on allegations of corruption as well as claims that the indelible ink was easily removed during the 13th general election on May 5.

azlan She ordered each petitioner to pay costs of RM30,000 to the Election Commission and returning officer.

The losing petitioners were told to pay RM20,000 in costs to the winning candidates.

With the decision, the BN's Irmohizam Ibrahim is confirmed in the Kuala Selangor parliamentary seat, which he won by 460 votes.

Irmohizam who was present to hear the decision said he thanks God and the court for recognising his victory.

“Now it is on with work in the constituency,” he added.

The Sungai Besar parliamentary seat remains with the BN’s Noriah Kasnon, who had defeated PAS Mohamed Salleh M Husin by 399 votes.

The BN's Mohd Fasiah Mohd Fakeh kept the Sabak Bernam parliamentary, after defeating PKR candidate and constitutional law expert Abdul Aziz Bari by 1,644 votes.

PAS legal adviser Mohd Hanipa Maidin has retained the Sepang parliamentary seat.

The EC was represented by senior federal counsel Effandi Nazila Abdullah.
