PAS wonders if there could be hidden hands in the dismissal of 11 election petitions filed by the party, said PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu.

In expressing his disappointment in the Election Court rejecting the 11 cases filed by the party, he alleged the court used the same reasons to impose the same costs to penalise the party.

"This is very strange. It's as if they had received orders," he remarked.

"The Election Commission had said those who are unhappy can bring the matter to court but when this was done for justice to be meted, it was not managed as we had hoped," said the PAS deputy president as reported in Harakah .

PAS filed 16 election petitions of which 11 had been dismissed by the election judge.

Party vice-president Mahfuz Omar ( left ) also wondered if the dismissals were to hide abuses in the last general election.

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim had several days ago complained over the spate of dismissals in election petition, saying it was not right for the court to dismiss the petitions based on technicalities.

It was reported that Najib however, refuted Anwar's allegations there were "hands influencing the decision" of the judges.

"The government has never interfered. We must have confidence in the decision of the court. It was also the court that acquitted Anwar before. So why is it that he has no confidence in the judicial system of the country?" the premier was reported to have said.
