Khazanah Nasional Berhad disposed of 55 assets and companies worth RM35.7 billion from 2004 to 2012.

Deputy Finance Minister Ahmad Maslan told the Dewan Negara today the measure brought returns totalling RM15.7 billion.

"The sale was in line with the government policy to reduce involvement in business and boost the stock market," he told Senator Mohd Khalid Ahmad who asked for the criteria for the disposal of companies owned by Khazanah Nasional.

Ahmad said some non-core assets disposed were taken over by dynamic and capable companies and entrepreneurs.

For non-core investment holding, Khazanah disposed them via sale on the stock market.
