RapidKuantan, the bus service operated by Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd for Kuantan and its surrounding areas, has opened a new route beginning today, plying between Hentian Bandar and the new Terminal Sentral Kuantan.

Its chief executive officer, Zohari Sulaiman, said that RapidKuantan would be the only stage bus granted permission by the Kuantan Municipal Council to provide the service link between the city centre and the new terminal.

“We are proud to announce the opening of Route 303 in conjunction with the opening of the new Terminal Sentral Kuantan.

“This is officially the 13th route provided by RapidKuantan,” he said in a statement in Kuantan today.

“For a start, we will begin operations with two buses and a frequency of between 15 to 20 minutes depending on the time. Operations will start from 6am with the services ending at midnight. Covering 7km, the fare will be RM2 per trip.

“With people to start travelling for ‘balik kampung’ for Hari Raya, we are expecting a high volume in ridership during this festive period,” added Zohari, who is also Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (Prasarana) group director for its Bus Division.

Commencing operations on Dec 1, last year with three routes, RapidKuantan currently has a daily ridership of about 13,000 passengers.    

Established on Jan 1, 2013, Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd was created after the restructuring of Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad as it inherited the bus operations that were previously managed by Prasarana Group Bus Division.
