Umno Youth exco member Lokman Noor Adam has confirmed long-running speculation as to his intention by announcing his decision to run for the post of party Youth deputy chief in the coming party polls.
He stated that he made up his mind to do so as he is confident his 22-year experience as a branch Youth leader to the point he is now the exco will be of use to further strengthen the party.
“I humbly ask for the support of all my friends,” said the former PKR Youth leader.
Aside from his post as exco member, Lokman also heads the BN Youth pidato unit and is also on the panel of think-tank Department of Special Affairs (Jasa), under the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.
Besides Lokman, several other Umno Youth leaders are said to be eyeing the deputy chief post following the vacuum left after it was reported that Razali Ismail has no intention of defending his position.
According to sources from Umno Youth, five exco members are to offer their candidacy in the polls, to be held at the end of September.
They are Perak Youth chief Khairul Azwan Haron, Penang Youth chief Shaik Hussein Mydin, Lenggong Youth chief Mohd Iruan Zulkefli, Tenom Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar and Titiwangsa Youth deputy chief Nazir Husin.
