DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang has queried whether Umno's propaganda is being used as a premise by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to demand a re-election of DAP's central executive committee.

He pointed out that to date, ROS has failed to provide a reason for the demand but instead, Umno-owned Utusan Malaysia appear to have the reason, - it claims that there were 547 phantom delegates at the Penang DAP congress last year.

"The lie of 547 phantom delegates at the DAP Congress in Penang last December, with the even more ludicrous allegation that all the 547 'phantom' DAP delegates came from Penang, is one of the despicable falsehoods concocted and conjured up by the Umno/BN psy-war journalists.

dap special meeting 110313 lim kit siang "There is no shred of evidence whatsoever, but which Umno/BN propagandists hope can be accepted as fact by gullible Malaysians by implementing the Goebbels doctrine that if a lie is repeated a thousand times, it could become a fact," Lim ( right ) said in a statement yesterday.

He was referring to Utusan Malaysia's official commentary under the pseudonym "Awang Selamat" yesterday which alluded to the alleged phantom delegates.

"DAP is prepared to hold CEC re-elections if the ROS director-general (Abdul Rahman Othman) can give reasonable and acceptable reasons, but not based on the lies and falsehoods concocted by the Umno/BN Goebbels psy-war squad, especially its chapter in Utusan Malaysia ," he said.
