Youth and Sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin today refused comment on a new book which offers a critical look into Abdullah Ahmad Badawi tenure as prime minister.

Among others, Abdullah had claimed that Khairy, his son-in-law, did not have any "undue influence" on his administration.

Met at Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's Aidilfitri open house event at the premier's official residence in Putrajaya, Khairy was mobbed by reporters for reactions to the book.

“I have not read the book and how can I comment?” he said curtly.

The new book, titled ' Awakening: The Abdullah Badawi Years in Malaysia ', Abdullah had defended Khairy and denied that the so-called "fourth floor boys" in his administration were his advisors.

Abdullah said Khairy did not abuse his position at the time and that he was "unjustly" accused of many things.

"I wonder whether those who attacked him and forced him into the wilderness were happy that they had broken his rice bowl," Abdullah told the book's editors.
