There were two shooting incidents in Penang today, which saw one person killed.

The first incident saw Veerappan Kanapathi, 37, was found dead in a luxury car at a intersection along Jalan Anson.

Northeast district police chief Gan Kong Meng said the incident happened at 11.50am and involved two men on a motorcycle.

Fourteen bullets were recovered from the crime scene while two parangs were recovered from the car.

He added that Veerappan had three criminal records.

The second incident involved six shots fired at a bungalow of a businessman in Pulau Tikus. No one was injured.

According to Bernama , the owner of the bungalow had previously lodged a police report after finding a warning note with live bullets in front of his house.

Gan said that the businessman was currently abroad and had received a text message from an unspecified person to demand for money.
