With the people returning to the city, there are more vehicles on the north and south-bound roads, causing traffic congestion.

A Plus Expressway Berhad traffic control centre spokesperson, when contacted by Bernama, said traffic congestion began from South Sungai Petani towards Juru, Kedah and from Simpang Pulai to Tanjung Malim, Perak, with more vehicles heading to the highway.

“There was also traffic congestion on both sides of the Penang Bridge, whereas in Perak, there was a jam at the Km237 stretch from Bukit Gantang to Bukit Berapit, and Sungai Perak to the Menora Tunnel,” he said.

He said in the south, traffic was also reported to be moving slowly until the Air Hitam toll plaza in Johor, and Seremban to Nilai in Negri Sembilan.

Meanwhile, a Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) spokesperson said the flow of traffic in the Klang Valley, Damansara-Puchong Highway, Kesas Highway and New Pantai Expressway was moving smoothly, except for the East Coast Expressway.

“Traffic has begun to swell from the Gombak toll plaza to Genting Sempah, from the Bentong toll plaza to Bukit Tinggi and around the Jabor toll plaza, Pahang,” he said.
