MCA Wangsa Maju division chief Yew Teong Look was disappointed with the party for rejecting his application to cite party president Chua Soi Lek for disciplinary action for allegedly defying the party’s decision not to accept any government positions.

The presidential council had not convincingly explained their decision. It simply turned down his request without addressing the core issue, which was to elaborate on the scope of a government post, he said.

“Some of members have resigned (from government posts) while some haven’t. They are waiting (for the party to come out with the scope of reference),” he said in a phone interview, adding that this is also what the division wants.

mca member ngo support yew teong look 100413 2 Yew’s ( right ) division recently requested the party to refer Chua for disciplinary action as the latter still holds the post of Penang Port Commission chairperson despite the party’s stand to shun government posts after its worst-ever defeat in the last general election.

However, this was turned down yesterday as party deputy president Liow Tiong Lai said the party constitution was silent on disciplinary action against the president and the disciplinary board had no power to act.

“The presidential council should make a convincing decision on this matter,” Yew said, vowing that they will come up with further moves to topple Chua.

“I will contact eight divisions and the Save Party Committee 3.0 to discuss follow-up action, and we don’t rule out the possibility of impeachment,” he said.

Yew also said in his view the party needed to amend its constitution to allow disciplinary action against the party president, as the decision made by the party had given the impression as though the constitution doesn’t exist.
