A hexacopter with a candid camera secretly videographed the house of MCA Youth chief Wee Ka Siong and his neighbour in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Revealing video footage from the camera at a press conference today, Wee said the vehicle was found by one of his neighbours, a 14-year-old boy, on the rooftop balcony of his house on Aug 8.

wee ka siong spying case 160813 05 After watching the video footage recorded by the camera with his neighbours last night, Wee discovered that the videographing was carried out by two men.

The two were remote-controlling the hexacopter from a outdoor basketball court to record video footage of the houses of Wee and his neighbour.

However, the hexacopter hit a lightning rod of one of the houses and fell onto the rooftop. It was discovered three days later.

Based on Wee's Internet research, the video camera in the hexacopter alone is worth US$399 (RM1,309), while the entire flying machine costs more than ten thousand. It is commonly used by Central Intelligence Agency of the United States to track the movements of terrorists.

"Am I a terrorist? Why must I subject to all these? Please be fair to me," said Wee.

He said there were five video recordings in the camera and one of them clearly showed the faces of the two men behind it.

"One of the two involved is believed to be from China. He speaks with a heavy Chinese accent in the video," he added.

Linked to coming MCA election?

The two also say that there was no problem with their trials, and this Wee sees as meaning that the video shooting at his house was not the first time they were carrying out such an activity.

"In other words, what makes us more worried is that they, or other people, are carrying out all kinds of actions to invade personal privacy, and this may even be for criminal purposes. The consequences are terrifying," he said.

Although Wee is not certain about the duo's purpose in recording  his and his neighbour's houses, he believes that it is related to the coming MCA party election.

"So, I have  grounds to believe that this expensive professional flying vehicle with the motive of secretly video shooting my house is linked to malicious political purposes," Wee said.

However, he showed journalists all the relevant documents to prove that his house, bought five years ago, is only worth RM1.8 million.

He said he secured a bank loan of RM1.38 million for the house and currently pays back RM8,796 each month.

Wee stressed that his political rivals could go for him directly and not drag his family members and neighbours into the matter.

“This vile and vulgar means is the greatest insult to the politics of our country,” he added.

After consulting Kuala Lumpur CID chief Ku Chin Wah this morning, Wee lodged a police report and he hopes the authorities would investigate and arrest the real culprits involved.
